July 2-9: Anger

What is your automatic response to the word “anger”? What might that response tell you about your relationship to this emotion? Like so many of us, you were likely taught that anger is an emotion that causes people to “lose it”, when in reality, anger does no such thing. Anger, like all the emotions, is simply energy in the body. We mistakenly believe that anger itself leads to outbursts. Not so. Anger is just a signal. It’s what we do in response to that signal that matters. This week, don’t equate your anger with an action. See it as its own thing, worthy of your attention. You’ll be surprised at how calm and reasonable you can be while having a relationship to anger.
